Must See Concerts in Detroit – October 2017

Must See October 2017

Autumn is coming into Detroit with a fucking VENGEANCE this year. We have two shows from the biggest rock star on the planet to star, some up and coming acts, and some bitching shows from Black Pistol Fire and Queens of the Stone Age! Hold on to your buns and enjoy the shows!.

Paul McCartney

Where: Little Caesars Arena
When: October 2
Why: Two shows for the most legendary musician on the planet! Sunday night is looking a little expensive for our tastes, but that Monday show tho…

The Lone Bellow

Where: El Club
When: October 3
Why: Twangy performs with no shortage on passion. Probably not as rocking as El Club is used to, but just as energetic.

Future Islands

Where: Royal Oak Music Theatre
When: October 5
Why: Future Islands bring emotion and soul to an incredibly unique electronic sound. Don’t take your eyes off lead man Sam Herring – he dances like no one you’ve ever seen before.

Where: Fillmore Detroit
When: October 6
Why: Alright stop…They have a lot more songs than that one from Fight Club you put on every playlist after you saw the movie.

The National

Where: Masonic Temple Theatre
When: October 8
Why: Indie rockers who have been around since the turn of the century, they know what’s up.

Phoenix w/ Lo Moon

Where: The Fillmore
When: October 11
Why: We all love Phoenix, but show up early to see Lo Moon. They’re a chill band with some incredible vocals and trancey electronic rhythms.  Then try to be cool as Phoenix takes over.

Milky Chance

Where: The Fillmore
When: October 13
Why: Did you know Milky Chance was a group and not just the one dude with the crazy hair? Me either. However many dudes they have, they make some great music.

Black Pistol Fire

Where: The Magic Bag
When: October 14
Why: They rock. We went to see them last time they played Detroit in the cozy confines of The Shelter. Read our review. In the words of Samuel L. Jackson, “Hold onto your butts.”

Brand New

Where: Fox Theatre
When: October 15
Why: They nearly broke the internet when they dropped their first new album in like a decade, Science Fiction. It was well worth the wait, as it’s getting an 88 at Metacritic right now. Can’t wait for this one.

Queens of the Stone Age w/ Royal Blood

Where: Fox Theatre
When: October 17
Why: A twin bill from the GODS! We had an incredible time at Royal Blood, but now they’re opening for Queens of the Stone Age? Holy crap.

Where: St. Andrew’s Hall
When: October 17
Why: LANY was on our radar about a year ago, and has only been getting better. A smooth electronic sound with strong vocals keeps us very interested. A bit of a The 1975 vibe. So if you like them, you’ll like LANY.

Fall Out Boy

Where: Little Caesars Arena
When: October 24
Why: Their music videos have always been kind of been shite, but their live shows are not. This should be a pretty incredible performance, like they always are.

The Accidentals

Where: St. Andrew’s Hall
When: October 29
Why: We’re idiots and thought they were playing back in August. We were excited then, so the anticipation has only been growing. Folk yeah!

Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile

Where: Royal Oak Music Theatre
When: October 30
Why: Courtney Barnett has been a favorite of ours for the last few years, and teaming up with Kurt Vile seems like a perfect match. Pretty excited for this one.

See you around, Detroit!
