Must See Concerts in Detroit – June 2017

Must See June

June is a month full of bands we’ve seen before and DYING to see again. Not much is better than outdoor concerts in Michigan, and we have tons of them for the first month of summer!

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

Where: Masonic Temple Theatre
When: June 3
Why: Nick Cave is one of the best songwriters of his generation, and it’s pretty damn rare he comes ’round these parts. Get out and see a legend when you have the chance.

Tool

Where: DTE Music Theatre
When: June 7
Why: Great band who made a name for themselves in the 90s with bitchin’ rock music. We’re going to go out on a limb and say there will be more guys than gals at this show…and they probably won’t be sober.

Wilco

Where: Meadow Brook Amphitheatre
When: June 7
Why: Two outdoor venues with two great shows on the same night! Choose wisely.

Blackbear

Where: Fillmore Detroit
When: June 9
Why: Hip-hop with some R&B swag. We are looking forward to this show even if you are saying “I don’t f**king care”.

Royal Blood

Where: St. Andrew’s Hall
When: June 9
Why: They rock. If you were lucky enough to see them the last time they were at St. Andrew’s, or when they opened for Foo Fighters, you know exactly why you need to be there. If you haven’t seen them yet, you’re in for a treat.

Deftones with Rise Against

Where: Freedom Hill Amphitheatre
When: June 10
Why: One of the few shows we are equally excited for the opener AND the headliner. Hell of a great night of music.

Dave Matthews Band

Where: DTE Music Theatre
When: June 13
Why: Their annual trip to Detroit is just as exciting as it’s always been. We know the band, we know the songs and we know the crowd…and we can’t get enough.

John Legend

Where:Meadow Brook Amphitheatre
When: June 16
Why: We aren’t all about rocking out here at HWID. Sometimes you have to stop and appreciate a great songwriter with a great voice – John Legend is both.

Barns Courtney

Where: The Shelter
When: June 19
Why:  We were insanely impressed when Barns Courtney was last in Detroit opening for Fitz and the Tantrums. His own headlining show should be wild AF.

311

Where: Fillmore Detroit
When: June 25
Why: Their new album cover for “Mosaic” was made up of over 10,000 fan submitted photos, it looks awesome. Detroit has always loved 311, and this show is sure to be a blast.

Bleachers

Where: St. Andrew’s Hall
When: June 25
Why: The song that seemed to dominate the alternative radio stations a few years back,”Rollercoaster,” was our first exposure to Bleachers, we’ve loved everything from Bleachers since.

AMP Live – Jon Bellion

Where: Freedom Hill Amphitheatre
When: June 25
Why: We’ve seen Jon Bellion already, read our review, so it’s no surprise we’re looking forward to seeing him again, along with all the other great acts.

See you around, Detroit!
