The latest album by QOTSA dropped a few weeks back, the Mark Ronson-produced Villains. We got a chance to listen to it for the first time, here were our immediate thoughts via Twitter.
1. Feet Don’t Fail Me: Being taken DEEP into the nightmare w/intro. Heavy, funky riff. Angry vocals. Love this shit! #FirstListen #QOTSA

2. TWYUTD – Goth Swing? This is how a song can sound incredibly #QOTSA w/ @MarkRonson producing. Distorted AF, poppy #FirstListen #villains

3. Domesticated Animals – Menacing. The vocals at the end add a frantic layer of creepy. Guitar riff made me zone out #FirstListen #QOTSA

4. Fortress – Tranquil…for #QOTSA standards. Josh getting falsetto as FUCK! Good song. Dare to say a ballad. #FirstListen #Villains

5. HLAHH – That drum beat tho… Lots of guitar effects on #Villains, typical for #QOTSA but just pointing it out. SCREECH!!! #FirstListen

6. Un-Reborn Again – Starts off like a #DaftPunk song from TRON soundtrack. Needs to be like 2 min shorter. #FirstListen #QOTSA #Villains

7. Hideaway – Most interesting track lyrically. I didn’t catch them all, but I’ll be checking @Genius soon. #FirstListen #QOTSA #Villains

8. The Evil Has Landed – Shredding. Awesome tempo change at the 5-minute mark. #FirstListen #QOTSA #Villains

9. #Villains of Circumstance – Intro bass line = Lou Reed’s “Walk on the Wild Side” Great song to try a “substance” with #FirstListen #QOTSA
