This is the year!
How Was It Detroit is going to Electric Forest to hear the music, take in the sights and experience what we’ve heard from others is a life changing experience. This is also an interesting year for Electric Forest, as they are expanding the event to two weeks. The first week, June 22 – June 25, sold out thanks to performers like Above and Beyond and My Morning Jacket. We’re covering the second week, June 28 – July 2, with Flume and Thievery Corporation among other headliners. Week 2 still has tickets available, and they’re even selling limited 2-day passes for just Saturday and Sunday.
Leading up to the event, HWID will be keeping you informed on all the different shows and surprises from Electric Forest. Just last week, EF released schedules for the each week. We’ll be highlighting which artists are playing at each of the seven stages during each day. We’ll also be profiling artists from our neck of the woods who will be performing in the forest.
Finally, we want to bring you news of a special EF event, the debut of the Her Forest Curated Event, a unique celebration of women and all they offer to art, which is hosted during the Week 1 of EF 2017. Performing acts are:
- Solo female DJ/ producer and violinist Alfiya Glow
- Indian dance duo The Dance of Anarkali
- Uplifting California pair Heartwurkz
- Female DJ M.O.B.

- Female singer/piano/looping talent Melody Monroe
Also performing the inaugural Her Forest Curated Event are Lynx & The Servants of Song and non-binary EF 2017 Monarch Winner, Monarch Rachel & Their Royal Court Drag Show.
In addition to the debut of the Her Forest Curated Event, Her Forest offerings and activities include Women’s Group Camp, a Her Forest Artist Panel, a Meet & Greet with EF Production Women, and Her Forest Circles and Meetups.
