Concert Preview: Shearwater
On Saturday, March 18, The Loving Touch welcomes one of indie rock’s most enduring bands, Shearwater. Having recently disembarked from their February-long European tour, they are now on their first leg of their 2016 North American Tour, and we’re thrilled.
After releasing a collection of covers with their 2013 album, Fellow Travelers, Shearwater have returned with original tracks on their latest album, Jet Plane and Oxbow. With it, they continue expanding their musical outlets while staying forever grounded in folk roots. The intoxicating single, “Quiet Americans”, highlights their willingness to find a voice within an ever-changing musical landscape and demonstrates an ability to convincingly incorporate elements of electronic music.
A chance to experience a band like Shearwater in a perfect venue for their sound is rare. Luckily, they were booked to play The Loving Touch: a locale spacious enough to house popular acts, but also intimate enough to connect on a higher level. They’re a special band and you have to experience their earthy, delicate, reflective sounds live to truly appreciate them. Don’t miss it.
